Our Leadership

Executive Director: Betsy Schatz

Betsy Schatz has worked in the field of developmental disabilities since 1977 with experience in both residential and vocational settings. A graduate of Hood College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, she has worked in direct care and held various management positions throughout her career. She was hired as the first full-time Program Director at Langley Residential Support Services (known then as Langley Nonprofit Housing Development) in 1988 when Langley operated only one group home. Promoted to Executive Director in 1994, she has helped guide the organization since then.

Betsy is highly respected in the community for her extensive knowledge and experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities as well as managing an organization providing comprehensive residential and community support.

A student of leadership, Betsy is a graduate of Leadership Fairfax’s LFI Class of 2002. She has furthered her studies in the subject through the Leadership Arlington (2010) and Lead Virginia (2012) programs. A long-time board member of Leadership Fairfax, she was honored with the organization’s Torchbearer Award in June 2012.

We are very proud of the dedicated and caring team of professionals who make up our staff. Our employees are passionate advocates for the individuals with developmental disabilities we support and often go beyond the call of duty to assist them.

To ensure the best care for our clients, the individuals on our staff are held to high job performance standards. Because Langley operates under Virginia and Fairfax County licensing guidelines, our employees must acquire and keep current certain training certifications as part of their employment with us.

Board of Directors

We are quite fortunate to have a very engaged Board of Directors that is committed to providing the best care and support possible to the people in our program. In addition to serving on various committees as part of their board service, many of these individuals have become even more involved through coaching Langley’s sports teams or volunteering for activities and events. We are proud to boast a 100% contribution rate among Langley board members.
