How We Help Adults with Developmental Disabilities

The men and women with developmental disabilities we support have been diagnosed with varying degrees of cognitive impairment, which impacts their ability to process information and acquire certain skills. With proper supports, these individuals can learn many things; it may just take them more time and effort. However, the need for these supports is continual and this is why Langley Residential Support Services (LRSS) exists.

“Langley Residential Support Services has consistently demonstrated its commitment to ensuring that individuals with intellectual disabilities live self-determined, inclusive and valued lives as full members of their communities." …Alan Wooten, Director, CSB Community Living Services

According to the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, “the most modern thinking about how to help people with intellectual disabilities…is to tailor supports for each individual, in the form of a set of strategies and services provided over a sustained period.” The primary goal in providing these supports should be to improve the individual’s level of functioning within their current environment so that he/she will be able to be as successful as possible.

We provide these supports as a vendor of the Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board (CSB). For 40 years, families, our community and the CSB have trusted Langley Residential to help people with developmental disabilities reach their potential.
